At Etherea Aromatics, we believe we should use our success to give back to the community that nurtured us.
We have created a special fragrance in honor of Michele's mother, Jan Mojica, who is a native of Hawaii, and has been fighting and surviving ovarian cancer for a miraculous ten years and counting.
50% of all profits from the sales of Island Angel products are donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
We hope to set an example for all Fragrance Stylists and encourage them to contribute to their local communities as well.
About the NOCC and Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian Cancer is a disease in which malignant or cancerous cells are found in the ovary. In women age 35 to 74, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths. An estimated one woman in 58 will develop ovarian cancer during her lifetime. In 2006, the American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 20,180 new cases of ovarian cancer diagnosed and 15,310 women will die of the disease.
If diagnosed and treated early, when the cancer is confined to the ovary, the 5-year survival rate is over 90%. Unfortunately, due to ovarian cancer’s nonspecific symptoms, only 19% of all cases are found at this early stage. If caught in stage III or higher, survival rate can be as low as 29%.
